The Best Way To Stop Worrying

July 21st, 2011 Neil Warner No comments

Up until a few years ago many of my friends and family used to call me “a stress head”. Why you may well be thinking? I basically worried and stressed about most aspects of life.

So what were the causes of all of this stress? Most of the problems were probably due to the fact that I had a stammer/stutter. This speech impediment had developed when I was at the age of four. As you may well imagine it is something that destroyed my overall confidence levels. Therapy for stuttering, at the time, was less than impressive which did not exactly help the situation.

My low self-esteem had a bad affect on many areas of my life, not just my speech. I would worry about what other people thought of me, I would stress about my height and my weight. I was so desperate, for whatever reason, for people to like me. Looking back it all just sounds so crazy but it was like I was being controlled by some demonic force. It even affected my career which is within the cheap calls and motoring solicitors industries.

The turning point came as I entered into my twenties; it was time for a change and a big one at that. I could no longer live in this way, there surely had to be much more to life than this.

I was soon to realise that I was the only person who was going to sort my life out.

I started to work very hard at learning how to increase self-esteem for example. I watched the way in which great fluent talkers spoke and tried to compare it with the way that I spoke. I hoped this would result in me finding the solution to my stuttering problem.

Progress was far from quick however after around a year of battling against my demons I did manage to overcome the stutter and I did manage to discover ways to stop me stressing – it is all about attitude and the way we approach life – think positive and believe in yourself!

Stress Reduction Recommendation For Free

February 10th, 2011 Neil Warner No comments

This text provides free ideas and recommendation about the way to cut back stress. I am a person who used to stress in an enormous way. At one level a work colleague made a remark that he thought that I walked round with the weight of the world’s problems on my shoulders. My hair began to turn grey when I was only twenty-one years of age. Things though had to and had been about to change.

I realised that the best way I was dwelling my life was not solely most likely unhealthy but was additionally a very unhappy one. By the age of twenty- I decided to attempt to change the way I lived my life. I believed that I wanted a change of perspective, I used to be any person who was extraordinarily unfavourable and the first thing I labored on was attempting to turn out to be a far more positive thinker.

I then went about reading lots of books about thoughts over matter and constructive thinking. To my surprise, I truly loved studying this material and the lessons I learnt were to vary my life without end, in a superb way.

The very first thing I learnt, which seems so apparent now, is that worrying and stressing a few scenario does not make it go away or make it any easier. The truth is it makes it a whole lot worse. The important thing to remember is that in life all you are able to do is attempt your best. When a detrimental thought or worry enters your head you should immediately ignore it and to alter your thought processes into fascinated about something which makes you happy or smile. It’s important to treat these demons as your worst enemy and battle them away. Deal with it like a struggle and be determined to not let them win the battle of minds.

The following lesson I learnt was {that a} life spent continually stressing is a waste of a life. You never know when your time is up and therefore you’ll want to make each minute count. We solely know for a indisputable fact that we now have one life, although I do personally believe in the after life, therefore now we have to profit from that life. I now dwell every single day like it’s my last, I reside every one to the full.

The last piece of advice is to consider other people on the planet who should not as lucky as yourself. I for example used to really feel very sorry for myself and believed that I was very unlucky. When occupied with other individuals who live on the earth, I actually realised that I used to be actually one of the fortunate ones. Individuals in for instance components of Africa and the third world would probably chuckle at me if I had described my worries to them.

Treatments For Stuttering

August 29th, 2010 Neil Warner No comments

So you have realised that speech therapy is doing very little to improve your fluency and have now decided to seek an alternative form of stuttering therapy, but what options are available for people who have this form of speech impediment?

By the age 18 I could not take anymore and decided to fight back against my stuttering demons. I felt let down by the system, by the lack of understanding of the problems that I was having to face on a daily basis, surely there must be some treatments for stuttering out there that is better than this.

This was seventeen years ago, before the start of the internet revolution. I originally visited a number of libraries in my quest to find a cure for stuttering; unfortunately this did not provide me with the answers that I was looking for. I then looked in my local yellow pages and also went to see my local doctor but again it was as if there was not a person or therapist which specialised in the treatments for stuttering. Why is there no-one who really cares out there?

With the aid of the world wide web it has now become a lot easier for people to find suitable therapies for stuttering and stammering. They are able to find the latest therapies for stuttering by doing a simple search on one of the major search engines, such as Google, I sure wish that this had been an option for me all those years ago.

Options in stop stuttering therapy include speech therapy courses run by people who have managed to overcome a stutter. There are courses on a group basis however by far the most sought after course are those that are on a 1 to 1 basis.

Attending a speech course is not suitable to everyone and for people who are unable to attend such a course there are a number of powerful and beneficial self-help stuttering products on the market.

How To Stop Stuttering

April 25th, 2010 Neil Warner No comments

I have to say that I hated having a stutter. Hate is a very strong word but in a way it does not come close to the way in which this speech impediment affected my life. For example when I spoke to what is now my ex-girlfriend I very rarely had a problem, however when attempting to speak to her parents I struggled quite badly.

I was at a loss to comprehend why I could speak free from this speech impediment to person A but that I could not talk fluently to person B. I did attended various forms of stammering treatments but to no avail.

I read many books about speech imediments, achieving fluency and about how to stop stammering, about a potential stammering cure and spoke to many speech therapists. From what I read and from what I was told, I was made to believe that I was unable to live a stuttering-free life as it suggested you are unable to eradicate a stutter. This was not really the form of stammering advice that I was looking for; I wanted specialised therapy etc.

I was not exactly impressed with the negativity – I am a person who believes in the power of positive thinking.

Bruce Willis was one the television during one evening – he was being interviewed by one of the famous chat shows. He stated that he had had a stutter which had started when he was a young boy, however he had managed to achieve fluency when he was a late teenager. I felt inspired and then decided that the time had come when I needed to try to also achieve total fluency.

After nearly a year of working very hard and with the help of watching a seventy minute DVD that I purchased from The How To Stop Stuttering Centre I was able to achieve fluency. I now have a much more fulfilling life and I also have a successful career selling front doors.

Stuttering can be overcome with hard work and a lot of desire; if I can do it then so could you.

One-to-one Fluency Course For People Who Stutter

March 8th, 2010 Neil Warner No comments

Over the last few years the popularity of specialised communication courses for stuttering has increased in a big way. The courses are normally held over a five-day period however there are also a two and three day option available. The courses themselves are run by a person who knows all about the subject of stammering and stuttering due to the fact that he had this type of speech impediment for eighteen years of his life before managing to achieve fluency when he was aged twenty-two.

These “stuttering courses” are held in the UK, in the second largest city of Birmingham. The How to Stop Stuttering Centre has been offering these speech courses since 1996 and Steve Hill who runs them has regularly been featured within the media during that time including a front page appearance on the much respected Daily Telegraph.

Steve has also produced a number of self-help products for the people who are not able to attend a stuttering speech course in England. These include a seventy minute DVD, an audio book and an e-book.

Over the last three months a new form of therapy has been added; speech coaching for people who stutter via Skype. This is where people are able to communicate with Steve whilst also watching his responses on their computer screens. This abilty to watch the speech coach describe and demonstrate the techniques is of great benefit in speech pathology.

So what about the feedback for such a course? Well thus far the feedback has been extremely positive hence why there is such a demand for these types of specialist stuttering therapy courses.

There is currently a three month waiting period to attend one of the three and five-day courses and for this reason Steve Hill has now commenced running a two day weekend course as well.

To achieve fluency I realised that I needed to start thinking in a much more positive manner; out went the negativity and in came a whole new “I can do it” approach. This really is the only way to go and I only regret that I did not realise this a whole lot earlier.

How To Attain Your Goals

March 3rd, 2010 Neil Warner No comments

A few years ago I realised the importance of setting goals and targets. I thought about what I wanted to be and which course I wanted my life to take. I wrote out three different lists of my aims for the future.

The first list included what I wanted to achieve within the next twelve months. The second list contained what I wanted to achieve within five years and the third list was my lifetime goals.

One of my goals was to do with my composite front doors business. I wanted to ensure that the world would get to know about the fact that I offer affordable composite doors.

I had read that it of benefit to write any goals or targets down to ensure that one can keep focused.

Invest time and money to reach your goals

I now had a determination to succeed and was willing to work hard to achieve my goals. To achieve anything in life takes time and dedication. One of my aims was to overcome stuttering. To do this I had to learn the art of relaxation, I have always been very hard on myself and had spent most of my life worrying about things that may happen in the future. I decided to ease up on myself and to even have monthly treats to keep me and my body happy. I did this by attending reflexology sessions and for a short period I tried aromatherapy. After working extremely hard with copious amounts of dedication I did manage to achieve fluency – I was very proud of my efforts as you can no doubt imagine.

Avoid negative people

There are people out there who try to bring me down. They attempt to do this by off the cuff comments they make or just by the way they seem to look down on me. They would look down their noses at me. These type of people have caused me many sleepless nights and have had a negative affect on my self-confidence.

Life is now good and my business career has now taken off and I am now working with a company who offer a cost reduction strategy which I have to say is very enjoyable.

I hope that you have found this article interesting and of benefit.

Therapy For Stuttering And Stammering

August 23rd, 2009 Neil Warner No comments

What are the most popular treatments for stuttering? Are you able to overcome a stutter and achieve fluency? How long does it take to achieve fluency? Are there any courses for stuttering? Where can I find out more information about how to cure a stutter? I will be answering these questions in this article.

I am Steve Hill and I am a speech coach from the UK. I am a person who had a stutter for eighteen years before finally managing to achieve fluency at the age of 22. I have now enjoyed fluency for the last thirteen years.

The main form of therapy that I offer comes in the form of a specialised speech course for stuttering. These courses are on a one-to-one basis, this is something which I believe is essential due to the fact that each and every person has a different type of speech impediment and should therefore be treated as an individual rather than “herded” into a group format. The courses are held in Birmingham, England and are held over a two, three or five day period.

The most popular form of therapy that I offer; however; happens to be the seventy minute stuttering cure DVD. This film includes a lot of information including those all important techniques that I used to eradicate my own stutter.

People are also able to purchase an e-book and an audio book; all of these are what I call self-help stuttering treatment products.

Over the last few months I have introduced a couple of new stuttering therapy options; the first is fluency coaching over the telephone and the second is stuttering therapy via Skype. These are also starting to become very popular.

The majority of the people who contact me; whether it be via e-mail, telephone or letter are from the United Kingdom however I do receive a lot of interest from the United States, India, Australia, Ireland, Pakistan, Norway and New Zealand. I have a blog at blog.stammering-stuttering.co.uk which has a map that shows people where the visitors to the site are located. This is something that is quite interesting to keep a track of from time to time.

If you have any queries please do not hesitate to contact me.

The Frustration of Having a Stammering Problem

August 11th, 2009 Neil Warner No comments

Are you one of the many people who suffer with the speech impediment known as stuttering or stammering? Does your stutter/stammer cause you to become very frustrated at times? Have you attended speech therapy in the past in the hope that it would help improve your speech? I have managed to successfully overcome my own stammer and as a career I now help other people to attain fluency. In this article, I write about the frustrations and emotions that people who stutter have to deal with.

When I had a stutter, it created many different forms of emotions within me. The stammer was not exactly something that I was proud of; this is why I was less than eager to discuss it with other people. My family, especially my parents, even to this day are unaware of most of the difficulties that stuttering caused me, during my time at school and in my late teens. I rarely confided in my parents as to how bad things were for me. I was not the type of person that liked to talk about their problems; especially when it came to the stutter. I would instead just go to my bedroom and attempt to forget it.

I also felt rather sorry for myself. I always believed that I was a decent person and did not think that I deserved to have this horrible stutter. There were many people in my class who in my opinion deserved to have the stutter much more than I did, however in truth I would not wish a stutter on anybody.

I was a person who felt like a second class citizen due to the fact that I had this speech impediment. I was not able to socialise with the ease as what everybody else seemed to, and had many traumatic experiences in the classroom when attempting to read out of a book for example.

I was, at times, able to speak as fluently as the next man, despite the fact that I had this annoying stammering problem. I found it difficult to comprehend as to why I could speak fluently to some people but not to others. This caused me many frustrations.

When I was about sixteen, I started to drink alcohol. This helped my speech in a massive way as I was able to speak fluently when I was under the influence of alcohol. This showed me that it was possible to “stop stuttring”.

Speech therapists and negative national associations, have for years attempted to convince me to accept my stutter and have told me that there is no cure for stuttering. How can this be right, if I was constantly drunk, I would be fluent, there is a cure in itself. Of course it is not right or healthy to be constantly drunk but I am sure you know what I mean.

I found certain tasks very hard to accomplish when I had the stutter. Making and answering telephone calls was especially hard for me. I look back now and can not believe that I coped with working in an office environment for six years, at a time when I had the stutter. I remember traveling to work feeling sick in my stomach through the stress and fear.

Ordering drinks and food at the bar, introducing people to each other, attending meetings and job interviews were other aspects of my life which were made all that more harder by my inability to talk fluently.

My advice to people who have a stuttering problem is to not give up, believe in yourself and your own ability to one day achieve fluency. Do not listen to negative people who try to convince you that there is no cure for stuttering. Most of the people who say this to you will have never had a stutter and will have no idea how our brains work.

Communication Course To Help Improve Fluency And To Overcome Stuttering

August 4th, 2009 Neil Warner No comments

How To Stop Stammering

July 20th, 2009 Neil Warner No comments

Have you heard about the latest therapy for stammering? This is what is known as specialist stammering therapy. Why? The reason for this is because the speech coach is a person that has previously had a stammer.

Stephen Hill was just four years of age when he started to stammer. He attended various forms of speech therapy but this did little to help.

Mr Hill had a single life-time goal or ambition which was to some how achieve fluency. Despite being advised to accept the speech impediment that was ruining his life, Steve continued in his quest to find the “solution to stammering”.

Steve could and would not accept that there was not a cure for stammering. Negative thinking is for losers is the attitude that he believes in.

At the age of twenty-two Mr Hill managed to achieve his goal of fluency after working extremely hard to formulate a set of “how to stop stammering techniques”.

He now teaches these techniques to other people who stutter and does this via a one-to-one speech course. As well as the specialised stuttering therapy courses Steve also offers a self-help DVD, an audio book and an e-book.

Stuttering is clearly a problem that affects many people of all ages around the world. It is always worth spending to research in this situation.

There is full back up provided where people are able to telephone Steve to ask him any questions that arise.

Steve:

“In the past I often dreamt about what life would be like as a fluent person. Now that I am able to speak free from the fear of stuttering I have to say that it feels even better than what I had imagined to be. I am now able to reach my full potentail in life”.
