Historical Use Of The Power Of Mind
In the ’80s, the United Negro College Fund ran a series of television and radio spots with the slogan ‘A mind is a terrible thing to waste.’ That slogan goes beyond getting minorities into colleges, and on to every day life. Your mind is the most powerful tool you have to create the life you want. The power of mind is everything!
Touching on this ‘power of mind‘ idea is the ‘The Secret’. Millions have bought the book, more than that have watched the movie, and by now, the Internet is flooded with people trying to get you to believe in the Law of Attraction, which is that principle laid bare. Whatever you think about in your attitudes will manifest itself in your life, and that includes what happens when you aren’t paying attention to your attitude, too. It works whether you want it to or not.
Have you heard of the Placebo Effect? It’s a great study about the way your mind power works and how it can affect the body in a positive or negative matter. When these are performed, there are two separate groups that receive medication. Group A will get the real deal, and Group B will get a placebo. This will allow researchers to observe both parties and see how their bodies react. It’s amazing when you see a person take a placebo and all of the sudden they get over their ailment. They’ve had no medicine whatsoever, but just a positive thought process in the subconscious mind.
Over a period of time those individuals are studied on how they react to the drug. You’ve probably seen this in others around your local area, but the fact is some of the people taking a placebo get cured or at least better. While this is great, there are some individuals that get wind of the side effects and end up contracting them even though they’ve only taken a placebo. Listen, it’s not a coincidence because everything happens for a reason.
This thought process works its way into quantum physics. What quantum physics teaches us is that you create the energy that surrounds. Without going into a deep technical answer, the short version is that you create everything around you. In fact, it tells us that the observer is the one that creates matter and energy, which is what your world is made up of today.
Some of the more fringe scientific studies are trying to link this observer effect to thinks like remote viewing, telepathy, and other ‘supernatural’ powers. An even greater extension is that everything we see, feel and hear – all of our sensory inputs, may well be something ‘stitched together’ into a narrative by our minds. On the extreme end, this leads to solipsism, the belief that nothing is real until you observe it, and the question of ‘If a tree falls in the woods, and nobody’s around, does it make any sound?’
The Law of Attraction works whether you want it to or not. So focus on using it to change your life for the better. That means thinking carefully about your attitudes, planning ahead, and otherwise living a life of contemplation and consequence. We’re going to take a closer look at what that entails.
Start with a goal. Visualize it clearly in your mind. Make it a goal with boundaries; for example, if you’re thinking about money, don’t think of the goal in the context of ‘A lot of money’. Put a dollar figure on it. Make it a real goal, with precision. Once the goal is set, focus your mental actions on achieving that goal. Keep the effort constant; don’t do it in bursts and lags.
The sign of someone who’s goal focused is that they’re very driven. They work each and every moment towards some goal, rather than frittering their time away in unstructured pursuits. When they’re working on a goal, they’re driving towards it, rather than do it a little bit, then get distracted by something else. This puts the full power of their mind on the goal, and every little step helps further it. It’s one of those things that’s so difficult because it’s simple. People expect life changing events to be more involved than ‘Make a goal, and stick with it.’
The only way you can do this is by understanding that everything happens for a reason. If you need a new bathroom in your house, then steps will have to be taken in order to obtain it. You may need to start getting more overtime at work, spending the time to find the best deal for paint and the essential needs to build a bathroom, as well as anything else. Everything is connected and if you can learn to do it properly then you’ll find yourself changing your life for the better.
Then, the house of your dreams hits the market. It’s for sale. And because you’ve been planning and focusing on this, you qualify for the mortgage, and the owners like what you’re planning with the home. You close the deal and move in – and everything you’d been focusing on, all that energy, has helped realize your goal.
This is within your grasp. You can do it – stop letting life happen to you, and you start happening to your life. Make your mind your most powerful asset, and you’ll be astonished at the changes you can make in your life by setting small goals and focusing on them.
