Becoming a Lucid Dreamer

June 29th, 2009 Neil Warner No comments

So you want to be a lucid dreamer. Well that’s a good start, at least you know what you want to do; but how exactly do you go about it?

You also need to think about exactly why you want to become a lucid dreamer. What are the benefits of lucid dreaming? To help us find the benefits, let us first look at ‘normal’ sleep.

What typically happens is you lay down, you close your eyes and you wake six to eight hours later – you may or may not remember any dreams you gave had in this time. In and of itself, not terribly exciting.

This kind of sleep allows us to get the rest we need to go about our activities the following day. Have you ever wondered, though, what it would be like if you could actually take control of your dreams and dictate their events?

What if you could be an active instead of passive participant in your dreams? What if you could take control of your dream instead of being controlled by it? Someone who has managed to become a lucid dreamer can do all of this – they are not bound by anything except for their imagination.

This sounds great, but how can you become a lucid dreamer? There are two ways to reach this state – one is by having a DLID, or dream initiated lucid dream. These are instances where the dreamer has taught themselves to recognize that they are having a dream and start to assert control over the direction of their dream.

The second way is having a wake-initiated lucid dream (WILD); where the dreamer goes from being awake, to being asleep with no change in consciousness. In other words, the dreamer enters their dream as if it were a door, rather than just “waking up” in a dream.

So what are the actual methods used to induce these two types of lucid dream experiences?

Dream Recall

If you’d like to lucid dream, perhaps one of the most successful way of doing so is known as dream recall. Dream recall is simply the ability to remember one’s dreams. By remembering your dreams, you are able to recognize them when you are sleeping, because most likely, you will have the same dream, or at least aspects of it, more than once.

A dream journal is perhaps the best way to learn this skill. Use this to write down every detail of your dream that you can remember immediately after you wake. If you wait., it will become increasingly difficult to recall.

Mnemonic Induction of Lucid Dreams (MILD)

This is a technique based on entering your dreams with the intention of realizing you are dreaming or looking for a dream sign. For instance when you awaken in the nigh from a dream and recall a blue dog you mark that blue dog in your mind as your dream sign. Then when you encounter this again you will know you are dreaming.

Wake-Back-to-Bed (WBTB)

This technique is fairly simple. You set your alarm for just a few hours after you go to bed. When you wake, don’t just go back to sleep. Instead, stay awake for about an hour, then return to sleep.

According to Dr, LaBerge, this method has a 60% success rate. The idea here is to wake yourself in the midst of a REM cycle so that upon returning to sleep, lucid dreaming will be easy to achieve.

Cycle Adjustment Technique

This method was created by Daniel Love in this technique you set an alarm to awaken you 90 minutes before you normally would awaken. This is done for approximately a week. After a week, you begin to alternate between normal wake up and early. On the normal waking days, the body will come alert earlier thereby increasing the chance of lucidity.

Wake-initiation of Lucid Dreams (WILD)

This technique involves maintaining mental alertness even as your body shuts down for sleep. Think of it as if you are in a movies theater, with the film soon to begin; your closed eyelids are like the black screen just before the movie starts.

There are any number of ways to keep your mind alert, count, controlled breathing techniques or concentrated relaxation are all great ways to keep the mind alert. It is a bit like hypnotizing your self. This works best if you are not exhausted, try it during an afternoon nap.

Technologies like strobe lights and dreaming masks can also help you to become a lucid dreamer.

Listening to binaural beat frequencies through a head set is the simplest and most consistent way to create a lucid dream.

The purpose is to synchronize both sides of the brain to create the REM frequency that is required for lucid dreaming.

Combined with the self hypnosis sessions and affirmations to prepare your subconscious mind beforehand, becoming a lucid dreamer is something that everyone can now experience!

Benefits of anger management

June 28th, 2009 Neil Warner No comments

In the life we live we get to feel a large range of emotions.  Emotions that are wonderful, and emotions that are not so good.

Some of those emotions can affect families and relationships.Sometimes those experiences of emotion can cause problems with jobs or other social interactive occassions.

One of the emotions I need to address is anger.  Specifically using anger managment to control it.

One of the horrible results of the effects of anger is violence.  When you are watching a movie and the main character uses anger to fight back and win, it’s nice, but it is glamorized.

Anger isn’t that glamorous.  It is an emotion that needs to be handled through an anger management programs.Because left alone it can cause bad results.

There can be a lot of issues that cause it.Stress in relation to finances.  Or it could be problems with relationships. There can be many causes. One thing you can be positive about.  Anger needs to be managed.  You need to find anger management techniques that will work for you.

Anger can cause simple yelling.Or even worse, if you are involved in a marital relationship it can hurt that relationship.  Sometimes the anger gets so bad that a breakup would be ideal. But of course sometimes there will be the occasion that the anger is so bad that it causes violence. There more than I could count the many cases of domestic violence.

That is why it so important when dealing with anger.By finding effective techniques and ways to fight this emotion, many problems will be avoided.

Not confronting it can lead to broken relationships. It can start problems at your work.it can lead to many social problems.  All of this problems can be avoided by using anger managment to control it.

So if you feel you are having these issues, seek help.  Don’t let this emotion get the best of you.  Treat it right away.

Whether you do it professionally with a therapist.  Or whether you find some techniques through a book.Treat it.

It no longer takes me three months to read a novel, I can do it in three hours

June 27th, 2009 Neil Warner No comments

Old habits die hard, they say.  How right they are.

Ever since I was a young child I have been passionate about reading, it started with an awesome novel that I absolutely loved.

The thrill of reading stayed with me all the way through my education, going to college and even when I started my career. Nothing stopped this craze, not even when I got married and had my first child.

But as you would expect, as I climb higher in my career and the kids increase from 1 to 3, I am beginning to have less time to spend doing what I loved so much--reading novels.

I am completely die hard with everything I am doing, I carried on reading novels, unfortunately it was taking three months
to read just one novel, instead of the 3 or so hours it used to take me when I had more time.

I would read a chapter today, put the novel aside. Read another chapter in 2 weeks time when I had free time on my hands. And then maybe read another chapter or two a few weeks later. This would go on until I finish just that one novel.

I didn't like this and I wanted a way of still getting the value of a full novel in three hours like it used to take me, not the three months it now takes me to complete just one novel.

I was trying to think of a way out.

Thankfully, there was a way out…

In audio books!

All I need to do is buy the novel I want, not as a book but in audio book format. It contains all the same content as the novel but in spoken word!

Now I don't have the limitations I used to have with "reading" my favorite novels.

I listen to my novel in audio book format when getting ready in the morning, getting dressed and working out. While commuting to work, I continue from where I stopped.  During break at work, I also listen. And before driving back home from work, I complete the remaining part of the novel.

I would take around three hours to read a whole book.

Phew… how I love audio books for saving me so much time, yet still getting the same value!

If you haven't seen for yourself how awesome the advanatges of audio books are yet, don't hesitate.

Apart from novels you can get almost any kind of book in audio book format.  You can now find business audio books, professional audio books, motivational audio books, etc.

Hop online to find that book you have always loved to "read" but don't have the time to do so. Now, you can… with audio books!

Simply use any of the major search engines like Google to search for phrases such as "the title of the book + audio book".You are given the result of web sites where you are able to purchase the title of your choice in audio book format.

Yeh, it's now a breeze to get your hands on your favorite book in audio book format!

I found an amazing place that has all my favorite books as audio book download, Spoken Network. You can find them at:

Do You Have Anger Management Problems When Drinking Alcohol

June 26th, 2009 Neil Warner No comments

Many people have anger management problems when they drink alcohol. So what about you? Do you find it difficult to control your anger when you are under the influence of alcohol? If you have answered this question in the positive then this article may well be of benefit to you.

Only this morning did I read about how when under the influence of alcohol two men killed another man. They had become involved with an altercation with another man and one of the men then decided to punch him. He fell to the floor at which point the second man then kicked him in the head. It is thought that it was his head hitting the pavement that caused him to die however the two men were still sent to jail.

Now in this case three mens lives have been ruined as a direct result of alcohol and the way in which it caused two seemingly educated and normally law obiding citizens to "lash out". I seriously doubt whether they would have acted in this way had they been sober not that this in anyway should be a defence.

Both men have stated how sorry they are and about how guilty they feel; I for one feel sorry for them both as they will have to live with what they have done for the rest of their lives plus they will spend a number of their best years behind bars. Let us not also forget the families of these two men, they will have also been badly affected by this whole sorry event.

Then, of course, there is the person who has of died, a waste of a promising life, and of course his family. I have and will continue to pray for them all. I have to say that it is a real tragedy.

I have actually completely stopped drinking alcohol, something that when I was younger helped me to speak in a fluent manner. I had a stutter for eighteen years of my life and alcohol enabled me to gain the confidence to talk without the fear of stuttering.

I have now managed to overcome the stutter and with the help of a DVD authoring company have produced a seventy minute DVD which describes my journey to fluency along with the techniques required to stop stuttering.

For people who do become aggressive when they drink alcohol, please learn the lessons from above before you also ruin the lives of yourself, your family and innocent bystanders.

Enhance Your Mind Power by Heightening Your Awareness of Abundance - The Law of Magnetization

June 25th, 2009 Neil Warner No comments

It is the universe’s nature to grow and evolve. Help it do this by increasing your awareness of abundance and in return, widening the flow of abundance into your life. Knowledge is information and information is a form of energy, so to enhance your experience of abundance you must heighten your awareness of “becoming abundant” so you can apply this information as technique. Mere information without application is useless!

The secret to intelligence is not what you know, but how you apply what you know. We all know this as “technique” or “strategy.” There is a technique to everything! In every sport, the person or team with the best technique or strategy is never defeated! Even in school, the person with the best technique for learning and testing gets the best grades. Two people with equivalent knowledge can get 2 totally different results!

There is a technique to manifesting and there are techniques to attracting whatever your mind imagines. An unwise person looks at their life and blame others for it, and an intelligent person is a person of power and sees there life as there own unique manifestation. Your life as you see it is a manifestation of past actions. All your power of creation resides in the now. Whatever you are experiencing in life is from years of manifesting it. You are shaping your future right now as we speak. Everyone knows this, so it's about remembering.

The “Law of Magnetization”

Become a magnet for which you desire. Feelings determine the nature of the energetic state of your being and they are magnets. Why do people ignore their feelings when feelings are forms of energy and are important tools for manifesting things into your life? You are surrounded by an electromagnetic field of energy that attracts what is in resonance with it and repels what isn't. To have wealth, you must feel wealth. In the moment of magnetization, you imprint onto your consciousness the substance of physical abundance and material riches. Material means that which is manifested. The purpose of spirituality is to have spirit mold itself into the form of your physical experiences.

A Healthcare Speaker’s Insights Into Managing Your Anger

June 24th, 2009 Neil Warner No comments

Often, as a motivational healthcare speaker, someone will tell me about their problematic anger. Very frequently, they view anger as somehow intrinsically negative. Unfortunately if you consider anger to be somehow “bad,” it’s unlikely you’ll ever learn how to manage it effectively. This crucial insight is pivotal to enhancing your overall emotional intelligence.

In truth, anger is a totally normal reaction. So it’s absolutely okay (and often entirely appropriate) to feel angry. The key is to learn how to express your anger in an appropriate manner.

The second point to appreciate is that anger can be directed inward as well as outward. This “inward” anger can negatively affect your health. There is ample research to suggest that poorly controlled anger has detrimental biological consequences to the cardiovascular and respiratory systems.

It’s also imperative that you manage your anger from a combined biological-psychological viewpoint. As a healthcare speaker, it’s clear most people don’t take this combined approach. (Even healthcare specialists, such as doctors, nurses and cognitive therapists, often don’t appreciate this crucial point.)

The Biology Of Anger

As you attempt to manage your anger, it’s vital to appreciate that it’s driven by a deeply ingrained brain circuit that’s much more powerful than most individuals imagine. A fixed structure that developed to protect our ancestors in a far more dangerous time and place.

A central part of your brain’s emotional response is driven by an almond-shaped structure called the amygdala. Any kind of perceived threat (physically dangerous or otherwise) can trigger the amygdala. Once aroused the amygdala produces a range of biological activity. (All the “symptoms” of an angry state such as a racing heart, tension in the shoulders, flushed face and a lump in the throat.) Also, this entire mechanism operates at an unconscious level.

The Psychology Of Anger

Now you’ve grasped the power of the emotional circuitry in your brain, let’s consider the (equally important) psychological aspects of the anger state. Decades of research has shown that our self-talk overflows with unhelpful stories. (When I talk about these stories in my healthcare speeches, it’s clear people relate to them.)

One type of negative story we tell ourselves starts with a question: “What if…?” As the highly-regarded therapist Aaron T. Beck has observed, one of these questions often leads to more “what if” questions. Asking a series of these questions can create a downward spiral, resulting in catastrophizing.

A Healthcare Speaker’s Combined Approach

Here is the anger management strategy I teach in all my healthcare speeches; a combined biological-psychological approach. The problem with attempting to manage your anger using a strictly biological approach is that the unhelpful story you’re telling yourself will re-trigger the emotional brain circuit. On the other hand, trying to argue with the upsetting story you’re telling yourself is difficult if you haven’t got the biological component of your anger under control.

The best way to get the biological component of your anger under control is to regularly engage in some type of relaxation technique. Personally, I’ve found meditation to be extremely effective. Regularly taking eight minutes out of my day (yep, it doesn’t take very long) has worked wonders. When life gets a little too stressful, it has enabled me to “watch” my negative thoughts and feelings pass by without getting too caught up in them.

Regarding the negative stories. Simply appreciating that you’re being upset by a story you’re telling yourself can be very effective. In addition, you can dispute your unhelpful story. For example, if you’re stuck in a downward spiral of “what if” questions, think precise percentages and likelihoods. Sure, it’s possible you’ll lose your job but what’s the actual likelihood (without the emotional overlay)? Or, if your stories contain lots of inaccurate absolute words like “utter,” “completely” and “always,” replace them with relative words like “occasionally”.

Bottom line: Whatever techniques you choose to adopt (and healthcare speakers have a ton of them) just remember to take a combined biological-approach. This is the crucial key to enhancing your emotional intelligence, including managing your anger.

Cognitive Therapy Techniques Help You to Control Your Anger

June 24th, 2009 Neil Warner No comments

Everyone has feelings of anger from time to time, and that’s perfectly normal. For example, rage is often the typical response if you’re the recipient of an insult, an unjust criticism, or a hurtful comment. There’s nothing wrong with expressing your outrage. If you keep it bottled up, over time it can cause health issues like hypertension or heart disease. However, it’s important to deal with your negative emotions in a positive manner. If you find that your unmanaged anger is causing you to abuse others, either physically, verbally or emotionally, you need to act fast to deal with the issue through anger management therapy.

One of the most common ways of addressing anger management problems is through the use of cognitive therapy. A qualified therapist can show you other ways to look at certain situations so you’ll respond to your angry feelings more acceptably. This has proven to be a truly effective way to treat a variety of psychological issues, including uncontrolled anger.

Cognitive therapy for anger management problems involves learning visualization and relaxation techniques that help you respond more suitably to difficult situations. This might involve the use of certain words or mental images that help to calm your mind. You also will come to realize the actual reasons behind your fits of rage, and therefore deal with the emotion more positively.

Your counselor can show you how to become more aware of your feelings. You will be taught effective ways to manage the situations that are most likely to cause you to erupt. They will guide you into discovering the causes of your anger, and will help you develop an action plan that encourages you to react to difficult circumstances more acceptably.

The key to this approach is that you need to take the time to consider your reaction to a situation before responding. Basically, you retrain your emotions so that your brain can recognize the proper reaction to any given situation.

There are other tools that can help you manage your rage. These include relaxation techniques such as yoga, meditation, or listening to your favorite music. Regular physical exercise is also essential. Another good idea is to maintain a journal in which you keep an account of your anger episodes, in which you write about both the situation and your response. This will give you valuable information about the causes of your anger issues and how to deal with them more effectively.

Learning to control your anger through cognitive therapy is a process that involves not only your mind but your lifestyle. Using effective anger management tips will give you a more enjoyable life and healthier relationships with others.

Self Reflection and Reflecting on Society – What’s Next?

June 24th, 2009 Neil Warner No comments

We have certainly traveled far along the road of continuing improvements, haven’t we?After pausing to think about the differences between modern and ancient times, it is really boggling to the mind, isn’t it?

The modern conveniences that are available to the masses today are incredible. Just one-hundred years ago, only a few people had automobiles. In modern times, virtually every person has a car. Some have more than one.

And think about the folks with mobility problems: Powerful stairlifts did not exist 100 years ago.  Yet today. They have mobility devices for both the home and for vans.

Today’s technology makes it possible for some folks to live a life that would not have been available to them 100 years ago.  That’s what is good.

In reality, there are many issues that need to be investigated. Gum disease is a problem which is characterized in the beginning by the need to stop bleeding gums. It’s strange to imagine that we cannot defeat gum disease problems after hundreds of decades of being plagued by it.

Modern medicine may have slipped a bit on that one.  But teeth whitening reviews abound on the Internet today. This is because at-home teeth whitening has become quite popular.  This is something that really wasn’t available one-hundred years ago – not to the masses.

One tip about that: Please do NOT ever try to lighten your teeth with lemon juice – That is an urban legend that should be completely ignored. That lemon juice is very acidic and can really harm your tooth enamel, please don’t use it on your teeth.

Medically speaking, it is getting better and better. Heart surgeries have advanced technologically. But it leaves me with a sad thought. We should turn our attention to the area that really needs improvement: Prevention.

At the same time, we really should develop our ability to work with nature instead of against. Are there natural substances that can clean our arteries and help us avoid heart surgery in the first place?

Despite that, I’m optimistic.  Now, I’m left wondering what will be available to the average person in the next fifty years.I am eagerly looking towards finding out for myself.

People In Need Of Encouragement Words

June 22nd, 2009 Neil Warner No comments

Living through life makes one to discover that there are a lot of reasons why we feel the need for some team encouragement quotes if you are depressed as a group or family. The truth is that as much as there are awewsome occurances in life there are also some sad moments that we can not just ignore. If you are not sure about what to say on what occasion especially in terms of bible verse about encouragement then take some time to read below for some few examples.

The Loss of a loved one

A person who has just lost a loved one needs to be encouraged and supported. They need to hear good things and positive talk. Just becareful not to go overboad. Find the right things to do and words to say.

Let me emphasize and say that when you are trying to encourage someone who is grieving, you need to be skilful and very sensitive.

First time at work

It can get very stressful to move in to a new workplace especially if it is not what you have done before. If you have a friend who has just started in a new job then you better think of a way to make him or her comfortable and at ease. For someone who has a good sense of humor, it is a good idea to send him or her some poems that give encouragement about starting a new job.

Someone in a new country

Being in a new country can be so stressful especially if you can not understand the local language. If comes with the feeling of anxiety and being home sick. I know someone who fell into a major depression after going overseas to pursue her studies. It took two months for the person to recover and start accepting her new environment.

Other than these, sick people also need some words of encouragement and also those who are locked up in jail. As you live through each day, never forget that someone needs you to share some few motivational words.

How You Can Develop the Secrets of Telepathy

June 21st, 2009 Neil Warner No comments

Develop Telepathy – Telepathy is a method of communication in which two people exchange thoughts, feelings and emotions directly between their minds. This is a mental capacity which anyone can use with enough practice.

The telepathic ability is one that all humans possess to some degree, but have lost the means by which to control it on a conscious level. We all experience moments of telepathic activity subconsciously from time to time. Develop telepathy – Imagine being able to control that innate ability and use it to communicate.

There is still a large amount of skepticism surrounding the use of mind powers/telepathy of any degree but consider this: how many times have you been in a great mood only to meet a person who is gloomy and depressed. Within just a few minutes of talking with the miserable person, your own mood starts to reflect the same thing.

Was it what they said? Not exactly – at least, it wasn’t their words that made you feel this way. This was in fact due to telepathy; your mind picked up on the emotions which they were transmitting.

It has been shown in studies that the part of the subconscious mind which controls telepathy can be activated. What you need to do is to focus on the person with whom you want to communicate in this way.

Think of telepathy as if it were a foreign language. As a child, you learned your native language by listening to and imitating the people around you. Your parents taught you to speak; but almost certainly, they did not teach you to use telepathy to communicate. This however does not mean that you don’t have telepathic abilities.

The only thing this means is that you haven’t yet learned how to tap into this ability.

Let’s look at some ways you might use to awaken your own latent telepathy.

‘Mental-Muscle’ training

Just like you weren’t born knowing how to use your mouth and your vocal chords to speak, you have to train the appropriate part of your mind to use your telepathy.

The centers in your brain that control telepathic communication work most strongly on the sub-conscious level, or in the trance-like hypnotic state. This trance state is a level of relaxation all humans are capable of reaching without too much trouble.

Learn to relax your mind so that you can reach your trance state easily. When you can reach this point, you’ve begun to train your mind to be controlled at will.

Focus

Learning to maintain your mind’s focus while you’re in a trance state can be quite difficult to master. During your next deep relaxation session, focus on someone you’d like to contact you.

Visualize them and project positive thoughts. Visualize them receiving your thoughts – remain focused on this until the recipient has had enough time to absorb these thoughts.

Then, stop focusing and break the telepathic link. They will feel this line of communication being severed and try to reestablish contact between your minds.

Keep practicing this technique; once you start telepathy training with a partner, this practice should have prepared you well for sending and receiving telepathic communications.

Partner Practice

When practicing telepathy with a partner, one partner will send mental images and thoughts to be received by the other. Start by sending simple images like bright colors to the receiver and work your way up to more complex images and thoughts.

The receiver should be prepared with pad and pen to record any and all impressions and thoughts that come to mind.

Afterwards, compare notes and take a look at how well you did in the exercise. It will take some time to sharpen your telepathic abilities, so don’t get discouraged. Practice is the only way to develop telepathy, but you will become better at it with time.
